MiND brings together a multidisciplinary team with expertise spanning molecular science, clinical research, diagnostics, intellectual property, investment, commercial development and strategic communication.
Our shared focus is on translating complex scientific discoveries into practical tools that could improve how diseases are understood, detected and monitored. By combining scientific depth with commercial and diagnostic experience, we are building the foundations needed to move promising biomarker research towards clinical evaluation and future real-world applications.
Together, our leadership team and scientific advisors provide the knowledge, experience and perspective required to guide MiND’s research, support responsible development and build meaningful collaborations across the medical, research and biotechnology communities.
Key Team
Dr John Melki
John brings experience in building and leading a molecular diagnostics business. As the former Chief Executive Officer of Genetic Signatures, he helped guide the development and commercial growth of the company. At MiND, he leads the business as it advances its biomarker platform and explores development partnerships.
Dr Doug Millar
Doug brings extensive experience in molecular diagnostics research and assay development. As the former Chief Scientific Officer of Genetic Signatures, he helped advance molecular testing technologies towards commercial application. He is the inventor on over 40 patent applications. At MiND, he leads the scientific programme connecting biomarker discovery with validation and assay development.
Phill Isaacs, OAM
Phill established Beckman Instruments in Australia before serving as Managing Director and Asia Pacific Area Director across its diagnostic and life sciences markets. He later became Vice President, Asia Pacific at Cytyc Corporation, now Hologic, and was the Founding Chairman of the Australian Proteome Analysis Facility in Sydney.
Dr Trevor Davies
Trevor is a retired patent and trade marks attorney with extensive experience in life sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceutical intellectual property. He has advised Australian and international clients on patent strategy, protection and commercialisation. He holds a PhD in Microbiology and conducted postdoctoral medical research in the United States and Germany.
Dr Sam Brennan
Sam brings a decade of research experience in neurodegeneration and is a co-founder of GeneUS. His background adds to MiND’s research capability as the company investigates disease-associated molecular signatures and their potential as biomarkers.
Helen Argiris
Helen is an experienced tax and accounting advisor with more than 20 years’ experience supporting private, high-growth and multinational businesses. Her expertise includes business structuring, taxation and regulatory compliance, with particular experience helping international businesses establish Australian operations. She currently serves as Chair of the BDO East Coast Partnership and International Liaison Partner.
Alison Gartner
Alison brings over 16 years of experience in Australia’s healthcare start-up sector, spanning family offices, venture capital and healthcare funds. She serves on the Board and Research Advisory Committee of the National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation and co-founded Evidentli, a digital health platform that automates research to produce real-world evidence for healthcare professionals.
Matt Doctor
Matt brings more than 30 years of marketing experience to MiND Biosciences, specialising in customer relationships, brand development and strategic communication. As Head of Marketing, he helps translate complex scientific ideas into clear, engaging messages while building meaningful connections with research, industry and investment partners.
